If you're going to hire me, you have to trust me. I get to look at your stuff, and it's hard to show anyone the things you've been defeated by or might be ashamed of! That's why you get the long story below, so you get to know me a bit. I don't bite, I love people (and animals). and I'm a hard and fast worker.
I grew up in a tidy, organized, and minimalist household. Saturday mornings were all-kids-on-deck for cleaning ... that was just what we did. So it wasn’t till I had a couple kids of my own that I realized how much order was something that didn't just come "naturally" to everyone!
Then we moved into a 240-square-foot camper with two pre-teens and two cats, and it got an awful lot harder! I am now intimately acquainted with how to ‘fit things in’ and how much stuff is too much.
I can visualize spaces in my head, and rearrange them there. I do it everywhere I see things that could be made more user-friendly or appealing. You know the game of finding that exact-right-sized container for leftovers? No? Well, it’s a good training ground for learning to estimate space use!
I spent 15 years in corporate graphic design and marketing, the world of 2D organization. It’s a great field for figuring out how to prioritize and highlight things and fit others in gracefully just because you have to.
I was a full-time life coach for five years, too, helping people fit things into their lives that they missed, and get rid of things that didn’t serve them. More importantly, I helped them figure out what kept them from doing those things on their own, the key to making changes stick. That last part isn't really coaching, but it sure helps to get results!
We spent over five years on the road in that camper, doing odd jobs wherever we found them ... all over the country. Many of those jobs were reclaiming or making over spaces, which made me realize how much of a gift I had for that work, and how delighted folks always were with a fresh look and an orderly space dusted with hope.
A website about those travels and the work we did can be found here if you're curious about that life.
I’ve done so much handiwork over the years that I also bring my toolbox along, as there are inevitably things to patch or paint or fix, and I do those things, too! Want that accent wall painted now that you can see it? I’m on it! Pictures re-hung? No problem.
That's why some folks call me Gal Friday, as God gave me a lot of varied interests and practical gifts. I'd love to share them with you!
